International Festival of Ancient Greek Drama is an annual theatre festival taking place in July and early August. The festival was founded in 1996 in Cyprus and it is organised by the Cyprus Centre o International Theatre Institute, attracting theatre groups and companies from around the world each year.

The festival’s aim has always been to give Ancient Greek drama a wider presence in the theatrical activities of the island, and to contribute to theatrical sensibility within the public, offering them entertainment of “a multi-cultural nature and high aesthetic standards”.

The International Festival of Ancient Greek Drama has hosted theatre companies from various countries in the past such as Greece, Britain, United States, Germany, Russia, Romania, Sweden, Croatia, Bulgaria, Italy, Austria, Korea, Slovenia, China and Cyprus of course. The theatrical performances are held across venues around Cyprus such as open-air amphitheatres befitting the Ancient Greek culture.
