Lumiere Festival

Founded in 2009, Lumiere is the biggest light festival in the United Kingdom. The festival takes place in Durham, England in the winter season (November) and is produced by the company Artichoke, based in London.

The festival includes illuminated art installations and lit up iconic buildings and locations. Both UK and international artists are invited to the festival to recreate well-known buildings and spaces with an aim to change the way we enjoy our surroundings.

Lumiere has something to offer to people from all ages. In its latest edition in 2017, 240,000 visitors attended the festival, enjoying the interactive installations, light sculptures, neons, a kinetic fire installation, and a flashmob of illuminated umbrellas.
